Live: hybrid care for effective oxycodone reduction with MedicijnWijs

An overwhelming majority of the House of Representatives recently approved the initiation of research into a different form of funding for pharmacies, which should focus in particular on ensuring the efficient use of medicines. Think of the care that pharmacists give towards adherence to therapy, or the effective reduction of medicines.

A good example is the reduction of unnecessary oxycodone use. Here many pharmacists want and can take a leadership role.

MedicijnWijs can support them in this. The 'Verenigde Apotheken Limburg' have made a successful start in the south of the country.

MedicijnWijs offers modules with motivational digital guidance and smart tapering schedules for the patient, which the pharmacist can offer to the patient following an initial taper-off meeting.

For example, the patient is also well guided between personal contact moments, how things are going can be monitored remotely, and digital guidance from the pharmacy can be adapted to the needs of the patient.

A super nice development, which a number of Verenigde Apotheken Limburg, Instituut voor Verantwoord Medicijngebruik, SIR, Utrecht University and Pharmi are currently testing in practice. Thanks also to LIOF for the subsidy for this project.

Patients in all age groups are now being guided with their tapering off and the first experiences are positive.

Thanks to Arianne van Rhijn, Jaap Prickartz, Mette Heringa, Anke Lambooij and all pharmacists who are participating in this challenging project.
This is the future of our care.

Follow us for the first results in the coming months.

MedicijnWijs can also be used for all other hybrid reduction projects!
